Purpose of establishment
- The purpose of Air Force Heritage Centre’s establishment is to make the glorious history of the Indian Air Force (IAF) accessible to the people.
- Through this Heritage center people will be able to see and read the history of IAF.
- It will also motivate Indian youth to join IAF.
Important facts
- This Air Force heritage center has been established through a joint project of the Chandigarh Administration and the IAF.
- In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Chandigarh Administration and the IAF in the year 2022 itself.
- The Chandigarh Administration is responsible for the upkeep and management of the Air Force center.
- At the same time, the responsibility of arranging weapons and other equipment rests with the IAF.
- Along with this, IAF officers will also play the role of guides in this center.

Air Force Heritage Center
- Apart from the combat capabilities of the IAF, the important role played by it in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief is being displayed through this heritage centre.
- Aero engines, aircraft, kiosks etc. are being used here to tell the visitors about the history of IAF.
- as well as a number of other attractions including aircraft models and weapons displays in the centre; Such as Virtual Reality, Holograms, Artifacts, Interactive Boards, Simulators, etc.
- The biggest attraction here is a flight simulator.
- It is capable of giving visitors an experience as if they are actually in an aircraft.
- Along with this, many old aircraft are also kept here, which will further improve the understanding of the common people regarding IAF.
Importance
- This heritage center is a significant step towards preserving the legacy of the IAF, which will be a point of pride for generations to come.
India’s first Infantry Museum Mhow
India’s first Infantry Museum has been opened to the general public on December 9, 2022.
It is located in Mhow Cantonment of Indore district of Madhya Pradesh.
This museum will showcase the glorious history of Infantry soldiers from the year 1947 to 2020.
